banksy mural that’s protected by perspex in ladbroke grove, london
it’s been a really busy month for myself and sally. together we’ve traversed the streets of both london and berlin, which nearly killed our feet. but we have excellent photos of what’s around at the moment, so let me give you the highlights…

we didn’t go everywhere in london. in fact, time and the weather conspired to allow us to only visit ladbroke grove and shoreditch. however, let me assure you, EVERYONE has been there and put something up …several times. it was like collecting stamps, as around every corner a new delight could be found and snapped. fab!

we saw banksy, now almost always behind perspex, obey, space invader, sickboy, eine, toasters, d’screet, k-guy, nick walker, inkie, mr jago, c’est bon, rowdy, cyclops, c215, mr p, kid acne, pure evil, phil frost, jeff aerosol, above [singularly unimpressive], blu, faile, burning candy, even bumped into sweet toof himself on sunday – how excellent is that? and what about all the other famous and not-so-famous writers, stencilists and paste-up artists that have adorned the streets and alleyways with their comments and other visual stimulation? respect to them all – art is alive and well on the streets of london

although we never set foot in what you would call a traditional gallery or museum, we did find a vast choice of contemporary galleries and art shops to visit. we clocked up eight in all, ranging from huge paintings well out of our budget, like a phil frost exhibition in the elms lesters gallery near soho, to free art left on the streets for anyone to discover and take home

and it’s safe to say that street art gets a look in, in the shape of a giant turtle we uncovered by some works at old street. dunno which sadistic bastard chopped his head off monday morning…?

…and this rather strange frozen scene out of some quirky csi episode that we came across in shoreditch square, protected by a bemused security guard…

all in all, a really excellent way to spend the weekend in london
all that and we spent 4 days in berlin as well and came back with about 400 photos, three of which were of us, the rest of graffiti and street art! our account of that will follow…
for now, here are some useful links to see the photos…
